Bax uses similar argument to that
of Warshchauer. He uses scenarios, in which computer
communicates to Human beings through calls. He admits that this manner of
communication has inconsistencies (Bax 21). There are three stages of
communication and the use of language such as structural, communicative and
integrative calls. The model of communication that computers use recognizes the
distinct boundaries between the three stages. It also defines how change occurs
in the processes of communication. The development of computer language to
match human language is a complex process of translating binary language to
other systems of communication including human English grammar (Bax 24).
Between the communicator and the stimulator, there has to be a common language that
the computer uses as the tutor. The sounds associated with the words are
defined in a special way that the computer does not confuse between the
meanings of one word that has multiple meanings.
In the study about practical use of computers in the learning
environments, Beatty describes the use of interactive language that edits human
languages in form of text information. The interaction also uses devices such
as modulators and demodulators to transform digital signals into audio data. With
all the required devices and appliances, Beatty argues that the teachers and
the learners to have prior learning and interaction. This is because of the
dialogue that exists between them by default. Human interface exists in various
forms such as dialogues, pop ups and other forms of prompts through which human
beings issue commands to the computer and waits for response. The learner is
able to link to the internal working structure of the computer and let the
computer report the results.
According to the perspective of Blake, digital Technology can
apply in the creation of learning environments in which each language is
foreign to the listener (Blake 32). Human beings and computers have to learn
the languages of each other for them to understand the transmitted digital
signals. In the process of learning, human beings issue requests in form of
queries, which the computer interprets into specific sets of meanings before
presenting the relevant results. The interface between human beings and digital
computers can be through interactive web pages and stand console systems (Blake
21). Computer assisted language and mediated communication are the recommended
methods for learning for the digital communication. This can be aided though
web interfaces and the use of word processing application, spreadsheets and
database applications.
Kessler and Plakans support the idea of computer aided
communication languages in which teachers innovatively use calls with
confidence (Kessler and Plakans 45). The classroom application of digital
technology becomes very essential in research. It changes the attitude and
confidence levels of the learners. The integration of the classroom is possible
because of the application of calls. However, the authors recognize that Call
has no experts. Human teachers involved in the procedure must have the
necessary background information in using information technology in class
environments (Kessler and Plakans 40). The authors separate between analog elements
such as paper assignments and digital elements of computer aided learning such
as digital audio and digital video data (Kessler and Plakans 41).
